Privacy Policy

Overview
FocusGuard is a Chrome extension that helps you stay focused by blocking distracting websites and requiring a reason before YouTube videos play. We are committed to your privacy. FocusGuard does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Data We Do Not Collect
FocusGuard does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or web activity
- Keystrokes or form inputs
- Location data
- Financial information
- Any analytics or usage data
What Stays on Your Device
Your settings — which sites are blocked, whether the extension is enabled, and your preferences — are stored locally using chrome.storage.sync. This syncs across your Chrome browsers via your Google account but is never sent to FocusGuard's servers.
Pro Tier (Optional)
If you upgrade to FocusGuard Pro, your license key is stored locally and sent to our server solely to verify it is valid. When you submit a reason for a YouTube video, the video title and your reason text are sent to our server to be validated using Claude AI. Neither the video title nor your reason is stored — it is processed and discarded immediately.
Your license key is managed by Lemon Squeezy. See their privacy policy for details on payment data.
Third-Party Services
The Pro tier uses:
- Anthropic Claude API — to validate your stated reason against the video title. Only the video title and your typed reason are sent. No personal data.
- Lemon Squeezy — for payment processing. We do not handle or store payment details.
Open Source
FocusGuard is open source. You can inspect every line of code to verify these claims.
